Before taking any kind of treatment a physical examination is highly essential which will help to identify the major cause behind it like varicocele, infection or hernia, etc.

While a visit to the doctor, the first most investigation includes the check of Semen quality or semen analysis so they can test the quality and health of his sperm. Some other tests also required to identify the problem which includes a biopsy of the testicle, measurement of hormones in the blood, and genetic screening, etc.

What is Azoospermia?

Azoospermia is another term of male infertility which basically refers to no sperm count in a man’s ejaculate. This particular infertility is a common contributing factor towards the failure to conceive. Mostly it has been found in 2% of the entire male population which is quite rare. This particular infertility can be diagnosed while the patient and his partner are continuously trying for a baby but still facing difficulty in conceiving.

So after testing and diagnosis from the fertility specialist, this kind of condition can be identified. After testing if there is no sperm found then your doctor may ask for some additional tests in the highly specialized fertility laboratory because within high-speed centrifugation few sperms can often found which has missed by testing in less specialized laboratories.

Azoospermia is not the same in every case so the treatment process also varies as per the type of diseases. Azoospermia is divided into two major categories such as obstructive Azoospermia and Non-Obstructive Azoospermia. In the case of Obstructive Azoospermia, the sperms are normally produced inside the testicle but due to some blockage in the reproductive tubing, it prevents the sperm to come outside. Whereas, in Non-Obstructive Azoospermia, the tubes are perfectly alright but the problem is in the production of sperm.

Similarly, Low sperm count is another infertility condition which is called as Oligospermia. This term is highly used when the sperm count is very low within the body of the male i.e. 15 million sperm/ml. While trying for a baby it is highly important to check the number of sperm you ejaculate. In such cases of low sperm, it is highly suggested to consult within an experienced professional in this relevant field to examine the medical history and other male fertility factors.

Sometimes an internal factor namely varicocele can cause less sperm number whereas sometimes external factors like drug usage, smoking, poor diet, lack of exercise can cause less number of sperm count.

Causes of Azoospermia?

Azoospermia can be caused by the following reasons.

  • An infection within the penis
  • Genetic causes
  • Effects from radiation and chemotherapy treatments to the male reproductive system
  • obstructive azoospermia -a blockage in the genitalia
  • Injury to the genitalia
  • Other potential causes include undescended testes, Varicocele, medications such as steroids and antibiotics, excessive alcohol consumption, and illegal drug use.

Analysis of sperm to measure the count of sperm :

There are several types of measurements is available which are used to measure the semen analysis. First of all, the physician will look at the exact concentration of the semen and find out how many sperms are there in per cc of semen. It is highly necessary to have 20-40 millions of sperm per cc of semen. If the count is less than that then you must have the infertility problem.

Another way of measurement is what percentage of the sperm is moving forward gradually. 50% of motility is highly considered as normal.

The next factor of analysis is sperm morphology which examines what percentage of sperm looks normal. For having good analysis chart you must consider above-mentioned factors. So you will find out a better solution to increase the sperm count.
